Size & Fit Guide
Measure around your hairline and choose by hair volume, not only head size. If you are between sizes, or wear braids, locs or wigs, take the larger size.
How to measure
- Use a soft tape measure. A piece of string and a ruler also work.
- Wrap it around your head where the band will sit: across the forehead at the hairline, just above the ears, and around the nape.
- Keep it snug, not tight. Note the measurement in centimetres.
Size chart
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Cap depth (cm) | Best for |
| Standard | [XX to XX] | [XX] | Short to shoulder-length hair, low cuts, relaxed hair, silk presses |
| Large | [XX to XX] | [XX] | Thick natural hair, afros, rollers, medium braids and twists |
| Extra Large | [XX to XX] | [XX] | Long or jumbo braids, locs, wigs, waist-length hair |
Each cap is handmade, so allow 1 to 2 cm of variation.
Getting the fit right
- The band should sit flat on your hairline without pressing. If it leaves a mark, size up or loosen the adjuster.
- Tuck your hair in from the nape first, then pull the band forward over your forehead.
- For long braids or locs, gather them loosely at the crown before putting the cap on.

Why Silk
Silk protects hair at night because it is smooth and does not soak up moisture the way cotton does. Hair glides over it instead of catching, and the oils and products you applied stay in your hair.
What happens on a cotton pillowcase
You move many times in your sleep. Each time, hair rubs against the pillowcase. Cotton fibres are absorbent and slightly rough, so they create friction and draw moisture away from the hair. Over time that shows up as frizz, tangles, dry ends and flattened styles.
What silk does differently
- Less friction. Silk’s smooth surface lets hair slide, which helps reduce tangles, frizz and breakage from rubbing.
- Holds moisture in. Silk is far less absorbent than cotton, so your leave-ins and oils stay on your hair.
- Keeps styles longer. Braids, twists, silk presses, wash-and-gos and wigs hold their shape, so you restyle less.
- Gentle on edges. A soft band and smooth lining put less stress on the hairline.
- Breathable. Silk is a natural fibre that lets heat escape, which suits warm nights.
Silk, satin and cotton compared
| Property | Silk | Polyester satin | Cotton |
| What it is | Natural protein fibre | Synthetic fibre in a satin weave | Natural plant fibre |
| Surface | Very smooth | Smooth | Textured |
| Moisture | Low absorbency | Low absorbency | High absorbency |
| Breathability | High | Low, can trap heat | High |
| Feel in warm weather | Cool | Can feel sweaty | Cool |
“Satin” describes how a fabric is woven, not what it is made of. Most satin bonnets are polyester.
Who it helps most
- Natural, curly and coily hair that loses moisture quickly.
- Relaxed or colour-treated hair that is prone to breakage.
- Protective styles you want to last the full week.
- Anyone growing out their edges.
A silk cap supports healthy hair habits. It is not a treatment for hair loss or any scalp condition.
